to donations from Mercury News readers, all of the wishes in the 2004
Wish Book series will be fulfilled. Here are the details:

HOUSE
OF HOPE Jennifer Emery,
single mom and a former substance abuser who got help through Parisi
House on the Hill, San Jose: A toddler bed and educational toys. For
House on the Hill, donations will provide new books and toys and framing
for artwork created by residents.
DIGITAL
DIVIDE Donations will
feed a fund administered by the financial aid offices at Foothill
and De Anza community colleges to provide computers and printers to
low-income, single-parent students. This is the fifth year Wish Book
readers have provided this opportunity.
HEALTHY
RELATIONSHIPS Women and
children who have fled abusive relationships to find solace and safety
at shelters will receive pajamas and other clothing, storybooks, stuffed
toys, grocery and drug store certificates, bus passes. Agencies that
will benefit: Asian Women's Home and Next Door, San Jose: Shelter
Against Violent Environments (SAVE), Fremont; Support Network for
Battered Women, Mountain View.
THE
POWER OF DANCE Donations
will enable the Pacific Autism Center for Education in Sunnyvale to
offer additional dance classes with instructor Ehud Krauss for its
autistic students. |
