Wishes do come true.
Gifts deliver happy endings.

Once again, the Holiday Wish Book has worked its magic. Today, we have 30 happy endings to share with you, courtesy of generous donations from Mercury News readers responding to our 21st annual catalog of needs, published on Nov. 23.

The 2003 total reflects the state of the local economy, that is, it certainly won't set any records. But focusing only on the bottom line misses the point: The very fact that so many gave so much -- especially in this down economy -- says something powerful about this caring community.

The individuals, families and organizations you will read about in this site have been surprised and delighted by the generosity of Wish Book readers.
