ROP MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

STANDARD COLUMN WIDTHS

Image size of full page negatives should be 11” wide x 21” deep. Billed page 126”. Advertising more than 18.5” in depth will be billed at full column depth of 21”.

DOUBLE TRUCKS

Double trucks less than 13 columns x 21” require prior approval of the
publisher. Advance deadlines by 24 hours.

TABLOID PAGE MAKEUP
Tabloid page is 6 columns x 10.75” and will be charged at 64.5” per page.
Advertising more than 9” in depth will be billed at full column depth of 11.5”.

TABLOID COLUMN WIDTHS
Tabloid columns use the same width specifications as standard columns (see above). Tabloids will be produced on a 11” x 10.75” grid.

TABLOID DOUBLE TRUCK
20.125” x 10.75”

TABLOID DOUBLE TRUCK MAKEUP
Advertiser’s tabloid section will be billed at 57.5” per tabloid page. Minimum size, eight pages. Tabloid page size is 21” x 10.75”.

CAMERA READY COPY
All artwork and printing material requires 85-line screen. Camera ready copy should be submitted on resin-coated paper (velox or film) only. Ad images may shrink in width during production.

ROP DEPTH REQUIREMENTS
Minimum space 1”. Variation accepted in 0.5” increments. Advertisements exceeding
18.5” in depth will be charged full column depth of 21.5”. For tabloid sections, ads more than 9” will be charged full column depth of 10.75”.

CLASSIFIED MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

STYLE AND FORMAT

• Ten columns per page
• Column depth 21".
• Columns are separated by 0.5 point rules; ads are separated by 0.5 point rules.
• If ordered in agate, first word appears boldface.
• Complete velox or artwork, half tones, logos, borders, and selected type display fonts accepted.
• Sideways or upside down ads not acceptable.
• Placement of multiple column ads not guaranteed.
• Full page Classified ads are billed 3010 lines and measured 11" wide (10 columns) by 21" deep.

CLASSIFIED LIGHTFACE

• Minimums: 3 lines (Recruitment); 2 columns by 5 inch or 1 column by 10 inches (National Auto); 2 column by 4 inches (Local Auto/Real Estate)
• Single column and requested multiple column classified ads contain only newspaper set type and are measured on the basis of 14 lines to the column inch.
• 21 characters per line average; agate 5.4 pt. set in Poynter Agate; 10 pt. and larger set in Poynter Agate Display (Recruitment).
• Multiple column ads are accepted in increments of inch or half inch depths only

CLASSIFIED DISPLAY

• Camera ready and newspaper set display ads are acceptable utilizing half tones, art, borders and logos.
• 2 column by 2 inch minimum.
• Multiple column ads are acceptable in increments of inch or half inch depths only.
• Screen camera-ready artwork at 85 lines per inch.
• Ads with full reverse type and/or text set in less than 5-1/2 point are not accepted.
• If more than 25% total ad space is reserved, then screen at maximum 75% tone.

SPECIFICATIONS

• Facing Page ads (10 and 20 columns) are acceptable in equal sizes of full page widths, 10.5" depth minimum to 17" or full depth.
• Full page double truck ad is accepted for centerfold positions provided ad appears in classification ordered and in proper alphabetical sort if applicable.
• 10 columns per page. 10 and 20 column ads over 17" in depth will be set and billed at full page depth of 21". All single and 2 to 9 column advertisements ordered at a depth exceeding 19 inches will be set and billed at full page depth of 21.5".
• 21" per column; 3010 lines per page; 6020 lines for two facing pages; 1490 lines for vertical half page; 1490 lines for horizontal (10.5" deep) half page; 735 lines for quarter page ad.
• Single column lightface ads of 140 lines or more cannot be guaranteed to paginate within normal sort sequence.
• All Classified ads must include telephone area code.
